Introduction

SmartChalk.AI is a free AI skills marketplace for K-12 educators. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it. We believe in transparency and keeping things simple.

What SmartChalk.AI Is (and Isn't)

SmartChalk.AI is a tool for teachers, not students. We do not collect, store, or process student data. We do not run AI models — SmartChalk.AI is BYOT (Bring Your Own Tool), meaning you use your own AI tool of choice with the prompts you find here.

Because we don't handle student data, SmartChalk.AI does not fall under COPPA or FERPA compliance requirements.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account information — your email address, display name, and optional profile data (school name, grade levels, subjects) when you create an account.
• Content you create — skills, reviews, and collections you submit to SmartChalk.AI.
• Usage data — skill downloads and copies, page views. This data is aggregated and not personally identifiable.
• Authentication data — we use Supabase Auth for account management. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google's OAuth service.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the SmartChalk.AI service
• To display your profile and content (skills, reviews) to other users
• To compute aggregate statistics (download counts, ratings)
• To communicate with you about your account if necessary

Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Public content — published skills, reviews, and public collections — is visible to all visitors. We use Supabase for database hosting and Cloudflare for content delivery. We may share data if required by law.

Data Retention

Account data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account by contacting support@smartchalk.ai. When your account is deleted, your profile and associated data are removed.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication session management. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Analytics

We use PostHog Cloud (US region) to understand how SmartChalk.AI is used. PostHog collects: events you trigger on the site (page views, searches, downloads, article reads), a randomized session ID, and your Supabase user ID once you sign in. We do not send your name, email address, or IP address to PostHog. You can opt out via your browser's Do-Not-Track setting or by emailing support@smartchalk.ai. Children's Privacy

SmartChalk.AI is designed for adult educators, not children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
